Five for Friday

fiveforfriday2_thumb[3]
Ate with the kids this morning. The nutritional content was questionable, and so was the taste, but it was free. ;) Who else does breakfast in the classroom? I like it, but I don't like that it added 10 more minutes of daily duty time to the day of a classroom teacher.

I think I could write one of these everyday, and I never get tired of reading ones from other teachers. The things that come out of our mouths....

Conference folders

I organized my conference folders by number years ago, it makes filing super simple, I don't have to redo it every year, and it makes it easy to adjust files when I get new students. The only problem with this number system that I've found is when a student moves away, you give away their number to a new student, then the first student comes back, but you need to give them a new number. That's confusing. We did half of our conferences this Wednesday when we had early out. The other half will be next Wednesday. I'm curious as to how conferences are scheduled in other districts. Please share!

You need this book. I don't care what grade you teach. Everyone needs this book, including adults.  And the illustrations could not be any more adorable.

I'm ready to declare Amy Krouse Rosenthal as my new favorite author.

Today when I announced it was time for mental math my class cheered. It was very exciting. :)

This is a product that has been in the making for over a year. It just keeps getting pushed to the back burner. This could be used as a center, a small group lesson, or a whole group activity.

  1. You must be doing a great job with your kiddos to get them to cheer about mental math! Great work. :)
