I'm having such a good time playing on social media (Let's connect! twitter, IG, Pinterest, FB) this summer! I'm participating in the #tptchat on Sunday nights at 8 Eastern (7 Central). I'm learning so much! I'm also exploring other chats. Do you have any idea how many education chats there are? Many are taking a summer break, but there's always something going on.
All this social media gets me thinking way too much. I'm spending too much time in my head. I feel like everyone else knows more than I do and I have to try to catch up, so I read articles, books (I'm loving Carry on Warrior, if you had a rough year, I highly recommend it--Affiliate link.), and blogs. I listen to podcasts when I can't read (in the car, cleaning, cooking).
I'm not sure why I can't just relax, but I'm thinking about it. One of my theories is that being a mom, while incredibly wonderful, can be pretty boring. Yes, I said it. It gets boring. Peg Plus Cat is great, but I'd really rather watch Parenthood on Netflix. Leaving the house is so complicated with diaper bags, strollers, car seats, and nap schedules to worry about. I'm usually just hanging out at home feeding children and changing diapers. This is why I need a vacation from my vacation.
I've known for about a week now that I need a babysitter for tomorrow evening, but I haven't done anything about it. Just one example of All-Star Procrastination!

I was not a Peg Plus Cat follower...my kid are all grown up...lol...but I now have a 15 month old granddaughter, so I have become aware of this show, along with so many others!
ReplyDeleteAs far as not being able to relax, yes, that is definitely a mom issue...throw in the fact that you are also a teacher who, probably like me, is just not used to sitting still and doing nothing...well, I hope you eventually find that balance to allow yourself time to relax and rejuvenate.
Oh my goodness, I so could have written this post. I love being a mom and I love being able to have summers to bond with my daughter but. . . it is kinda boring! I started a blog this summer to have an interest other than Daniel Tiger (we haven't gotten into Peg Plus Cat yet). I also feel so behind on the technology stuff-- which is so weird because 5 years ago I was the one that knew more than any other teacher at my school! Technology just changes so much, so quickly!
