My Life, Currently

Do you have young kids? Do they watch Peg Plus Cat? Do you teach early childhood? Do you know about Peg Plus Cat? It's awesome. Definitely my favorite of the shows my kids watch.

I'm having such a good time playing on social media (Let's connect! twitter, IG, Pinterest, FB) this summer! I'm participating in the #tptchat on Sunday nights at 8 Eastern (7 Central). I'm learning so much! I'm also exploring other chats. Do you have any idea how many education chats there are? Many are taking a summer break, but there's always something going on. 

All this social media gets me thinking way too much. I'm spending too much time in my head. I feel like everyone else knows more than I do and I have to try to catch up, so I read articles, books (I'm loving Carry on Warrior, if you had a rough year, I highly recommend it--Affiliate link.), and blogs. I listen to podcasts when I can't read (in the car, cleaning, cooking).

I'm not sure why I can't just relax, but I'm thinking about it. One of my theories is that being a mom, while incredibly wonderful, can be pretty boring. Yes, I said it. It gets boring. Peg Plus Cat is great, but I'd really rather watch Parenthood on Netflix. Leaving the house is so complicated with diaper bags, strollers, car seats, and nap schedules to worry about. I'm usually just hanging out at home feeding children and changing diapers. This is why I need a vacation from my vacation.

I've known for about a week now that I need a babysitter for tomorrow evening, but I haven't done anything about it. Just one example of All-Star Procrastination!

Recently I read a blog post by Megan @ i teach. What's Your SUPERPOWER? and I had a big AHA! The descriptions for my products were not good at all, and I didn't even know how to put a link in a description. I've been making some huge improvements, and there's much more on my mental to-do list.

Honestly, my pageant title would probably be Miss Not very fancy, but it seemed wrong to say it.

Can't wait to see what everyone else is up to!

January 2015 Currently

The Currently link-up is such a wonderful way for us to not only connect with other bloggers, but also to reflect and record our own lives. I haven't been able to link up in quite a while, but I do plan to stick with it this year.

Paw Patrol is a show on Nick Jr. My toddler loves it, and I usually choose to listen to it rather than listen to the screaming when she can't watch.

I am so grateful to be able to take 12 weeks off work, but I am outraged at the sad state of family leave in the United States. If you don't know, the US is the only developed country in the world where women are not guaranteed any paid leave for the birth of a child. You can read more in this article published in the Atlantic last summer or in this article published in the Huffington Post a few years ago.

I often don't get the Christmas decorations down until Spring Break, but this year will be different. Right? 

Am I alone in this problem?

April Currently

Cody is my five-year-old. He is a self proclaimed expert in talking. He woke up early with me, and he is not very respectful of mommy-time! He's cute though, so I'll get over it.

Explanations:

My husband's conversation is with his video game friends online! Can you see me rolling my eyes?

I'm sure there is something wrong with me for thinking this snow looks pretty. I should probably take a turn shoveling and cure myself.

My little girl is still not walking. She's not quite 16.5 months, I guess she's not officially delayed until 18 months. Technically, I have seen her take a step or two, but I'm getting worried.

I think the rest are pretty self-explanatory. I'm defending my hopelessly uninspired mystery question with the answer to the previous question. I need to go to bed! Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is up to.

Also, if you teach at the primary level, I have a fan freebie on my Facebook page that I'm pretty proud of.

Miss Corinne

My baby girl is 15 months old, and she started doing this about a month ago. She hears the ABC's quite a bit because the kids at daycare sing it while they wash their hands. She is not accurate or clear, but you can definitely tell she's trying! What I think is funny is that I made the decision to decorate her room with letters before she was born. My niece painted them. 

I don't like football. I tried. I really did. I was pretty laid back about this whole walking thing, but 15 months seems pretty late. She's just very cautious. Black Thunder, which is what I call our Camry, wouldn't start yesterday. That's never fun!  2 truths and a fib: This is my first Currently, and pizza is for dinner. Did I ever fly a helicopter?  No! Never even rode in one.  I did build one out of legos this afternoon though. Have a great month everyone! I'm really new to all this, so I'm taking all free advice you have to offer! I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!
