ICYMI

This linky idea came to us during #tptchat on Sunday night. You are welcome to join us. Visit Erintegration for more information. Thanks to Cheyl the Techie Turtle Teacher for hosting this linky.
This post is to catch you up on new, timely, and updated products. I'm including both free and paid products, and there's a giveaway at the end!
Mental math is one of my favorite things. I love these task cards!

I put them in center baskets, and my students can work alone or together.

This is one of my most popular posts from earlier this month. It includes two freebies.

My problem-solving pack is newly updated! Now it includes three different formats. There are large print, small print, and a paper saving option.

This is how I use the paper-saving option. Students glue it into their math notebooks, then they make  a little window into their brains where I can see their thinking. I don't give much information about how to solve the problems. I let the kids design their own strategies; then I strategically choose students to share their thinking.

My Valentine Math packet was so popular that I made a similar St. Patrick's Day pack. These students are working on the Valentine's Math, but the St. Patrick's Day pack is extremely similar. I've added some answer sheets. Students practice identifying equations as true or false, greater than/less than, and missing addendproblems. It's super easy--no prep!

..

Base 10 Letters for place value practice is a very unique product. I used base ten graphics to form the letters of the alphabet, then students practice counting and adding.

I used this as a walk-about lesson, but it could also go into a center.

Last week to get the Spoon Book Study for free! This is one of my new favorite books. You can read about it here.

If you'd like to win one of these products, leave a comment below telling me what you would love to have for your classroom and why! I'll use a random number generator to choose a winner. Make sure give me your email address, so I can send you your prize. :)

Pick 3 Pins for March

Click on the images to see the original pins. Links to the original sources are in the explanations below.

I just thought this frame by Teacher Laura was a nice and elegant. It would be nice on a newsletter or a writing activity. It's free, and you know I'm all about a good bargain.

A Dollar Store Plunger Truffula Tree. What more needs to be said? If you don't see how awesome this is, I don't know how to help you. The chances of me actually making one of these are almost non-existent, but see all the fun we'd have if I had a full-time assistant? The tutorial is on Design Dazzle

Oh my! I love these Pop Art Activities by Jenny K. So much fun! She has tons of them. There's a free sample on her blog, and so many other awesome St. Patrick's Day activities!

If you found this post to be interesting or fun, I'd love for you to connect with me!

St. Patrick's Day

I have always been a little fascinated by Irish culture. I spent a semester in Ireland studying the Irish/English conflict. A few of my favorite Ireland-related books :

We are usually on Spring Break on St. Patrick's Day, but I like to read Fin M'Coul by Tomie De Paola. Fin comes home worried because another giant, Cucullin coming to get him. Fin's wife, Oonagh, has a plan. She tricks Cucullin into a foolish move that causes him to lose his strength. It's an excellent read aloud for any age group, just be prepared to stop and discuss quite a bit with younger kids. There's really nothing related to St. Patrick's Day in this book except that it takes place in Ireland. Tomie De Paola has a book about St. Patrick, but this one is more fun to read. I just wish I could do a decent Irish accent.

I've created 3 St. Patrick's Day related products. One for purchase, a Facebook Fan Freebie, and a no-strings-attached freebie. Clicking on the pictures should take you to the products.

TPT Sale!

I am very excited about my St. Patrick's Day base 10 block creation. I used base 10 blocks to build each letter of the alphabet on a flashcard. Students can count the base 10 blocks in the letter, and find the matching number. In addition to the basic matching activity, I have recording sheets (with answer keys) to turn this into a scoot game, several versions of war that can be played, a few St. Patrick's Day themed word building/number combining activities, and a concentration game. I feel like the opportunities for ways to use this product could go on forever! It's on sale with the rest of my store for the TpT --3 million strong sale on February 27-28.

Task Cards for first or second grade. Perfect for independent work, Early finishers, mental math, or small group instruction.

These are probably my favorite product. Lots of time and effort went into the wording and the illustrations of these key math concept posters.

These are very practical. I can statements for each ELA Common Core standard.

My Math Clip art is so useful when creating anything math related!

I also made the Shamrock Concentration activity a separate little preview that you can get for FREE by liking my Facebook page or for $1 on TPT.
